Monkeys Look to Defend Their Title in the 12th Anniversary Hawai'i
Lacrosse Invitational with a Stop Beforehand in Tokyo
|
|
| Prior to returning
to their favorite lacrosse tourney the Monkeys will be
stopping in Tokyo to play several exhibition games,
touring the environs and certainly a visit with our
hero
Yousuke.
This promises to be one of the best Monkeys' trips
ever, made even better by the companionship of the
Monkeyettes! [see linked page for Japan leg details] |
| For the past eleven years, the Hawai'i Invitational has been an event with Big Aloha and
Big Lacrosse!!! This
year’s tournament promises to be the best ever! Teams
are expected from all across the World- Australia, Japan,
Korea, Hawai’i,
Canada & the U.S. Mainland.
The games will
be played at
Kapi'olani Park, undoubtedly
one of the best lacrosse locations in the World!
Located near the foot of Diamond Head, a
magnificent volcanic crater, and adjacent to the beach. The
goal is for everyone to enjoy both exciting lacrosse and a
fantastic vacation in Paradise, and with the tournament
centered at
Kapi'olani Park, we should once again be
successful in achieving this goal.
As usual, there
are numerous events planned (see below list) to help
everyone experience the Aloha of Hawai'i.
Things will officially get underway with a Kick-Off
Party at Kapono's on Friday night. A
great time is guaranteed- with a
Hula performance at 8pm and music by top Hawai'ian
musicians Johnny Cruz and Henry Kapono.
One of the other big gigs in Honolulu every week is
the Sunday Sunset party at Duke’s Canoe Club on the
beach in Waikiki. We
will be in the catbird seat for this celebration as well
as we will have the entire poolside area, including tables
and bar, reserved for our Aloha Party.
Of course, no
tournament would be successful without good lacrosse, and
as past years have shown, there will be plenty of that at
the Twelveth Anniversary ’02 Hawai'i Invitational.
For the past several years, many of the
participants have been former World Team Players, NCAA
National Champions and Collegiate All-Americans,
including: Gary
Gait, Rodney Tapp, Matt Shearer & John Grant (Team Canada ’98
& '02); Kevin Finneran,
Casey and Ryan Powell, Jon Hess, Jesse Hubbard (Team USA
’98); Jake Bergey (MLL, All-American), Lindsey Dixon
(Team USA ’94); Zoo (Team Canada ’94); Glenn Miles (Team USA ’90)…..
As an established eleven year old tournament, the
level of lacrosse at this year’s tournament should be no
different than in the past.
Finally, it is
strongly recommended that you spend at least a week
enjoying the many great things that Hawai'i has to offer,
such as surfing, scuba diving, parasailing, mountain
biking, hiking, golf….
In fact, one of the Hawai'i Lacrosse club members
owns “Hawai'i Outdoor Adventures”
and would be happy to arrange deals on many of the
above activities.
